Shane Mosley goes for one last shot at glory versus Canelo Alvarez


Lost in the hoopla of the Floyd Mayweather, Jr.-Miguel Cotto extravaganza, the Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez-'Sugar' Shane Mosley WBC junior middleweight championship showdown is a match pitting a young turk on the verge of superstardom versus an old lion who had seen it all.

The very popular 'bull from Guadalajara' Alvarez (39-0-1, 29 KOs) is the heavy betting favorite to end the long and illustrious career of Mosley (46-7-1-1, 39 KOs), the aging veteran with hopes of giving his fading career the much needed shot in the arm with a win over a young champion in order to justify his continued stay in a sport unkind to old fighters.

Canelo, ever since bursting into the scene, has electrified boxing fans by demolishing his opponents one after another in spectacular fashion. At 21, this young champion has been proclaimed by many 'boxing experts' to be destined for greatness. His record of 39-0, with 29 inside the distance, speaks of the dynamites packed in his fists. Some pundits say that he is just a few fights away to be in consideration for P4P rankings.
