The intriguing case of the Manny Pacquiao- Shane Mosley super fight

On May 7th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley will meet for the WBO welterweight championship in what many consider to be a fight not worth watching since some people consider it a terrible mismatch between a fighter at the peak of his career and one who is a shadow of his former self.

On paper, the fight has the making of a lopsided one that made many pundits (including a prominent boxing scribe telling his readers not to use their remote to buy the pay-per-view of the fight) and fans alike to call for ‘real’ boxing fans to boycott the fight when it was first announced because of the way both fighters have performed in their recent outings: While Manny Pacquiao bamboozled his way to convincing victories against the likes of Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito, all bigger and powerful fighters than the Filipino phenomenon, Shane Mosley obviously struggled and showed his age against Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Sergio Mora in his last two fights.

Nevertheless, by mere pedigree alone, the Manny Pacquiao- Shane Mosley super fight is a must see for any boxing fan who wants to see an action-packed event. And for entertainment value, you can never go wrong with putting your money in a Manny Pacquiao fight. And Shane Mosley, fighting the best P4P fighter in the world today, is more than motivated to give a good account of himself to redeem his image back to elite contention.
